Based in Kinross, Unorthodox produce our most popular coffee, Wee Stoater and our only decaffeinated coffee.

Wee Stoater - Brazil; 980-1150 masl;  natural process; notes of hazelnut & chocolate

Dee Calf - Columbia; 1200 - 2000 masl; Decaffeinated using the sugarcane process ensuring this coffee will stand out amongst others.

Circus Breaker IPA - Ethiopia; 2011 masl; notes of pineapple, guava, strawberry. Tariku Mengesha is the sole owner and produced this natural coffee entirely on his farm. The coffee cherries are soaked, then dried on raised beds for 28 days.  While coffee is Mengesha`s primary income he grows navy beans and flase banna, called "enset", which produces no edible fruit but whose root and heart (rhizome and pseudostem, if you want to be botanically accurate) can be harvested, a staple in Southern Ethiopia.

Ethical Sourcing Policy - Statement
"We purchase specialty grade coffee directly from the farmer via our network of trusted green bean importers. Their role is to assure that the green coffee is picked up safely from the farm and shipped to us. Shipping routes are exclusively by sea freight to ensure minimal carbon emissions in intercontinental transit. Furthermore, after reaching the port warehouse in the south of England our coffee is transported to us by hauliers using cutting-edge engine hybrid technology to minimise carbon emissions.

The very best coffea arabica shrubs thrive in something known as 'the bean belt' - 25 degrees north and 30 degrees south of the equator. Thus, we must import coffee. Our role is to do this, environmentally, in the cleanest way possible.

Seasonal sourcing through direct trade links allow us to pay a premium above the commodity rate and allows absolute transparency and integrity in our green bean procurement. We regularly visit coffee farms and origins in order to maintain crystal clear and auditable transparency about our relationships with the importer, coffee farmers, cherry pickers and anybody involved in the supply chain.

Prices paid to the coffee farmers and cherry pickers are certified by us before procurement with a sustainable growth model that promotes local community projects and employment in local coffee growing regions. Making sure, via direct communication with the coffee farmer, that their employees are working in a safe and responsible environment is paramount to us. Moreover, that they are remunerated fairly for the work done. The specialty grade green coffee that we buy is typically purchased at a premium significantly higher than market rates.

We fervently support investment in water resource management and cultivating land for multi-arable use. Avant garde practises have led to increased diversified use of land with the cultivation of fruit and cereals contemporaneously reducing the use of pesticides and creation of a circular eco-systems that are not dependent on chemical use. The farmers that we personally work with have assured us that their coffee is grown without negative impact to our Earth."
